    Corgan was tasked to design these two new environments to work as one and, through a collaborative visioning process, a single vision was achieved. The project ultimately included a 40,000 square-foot inpatient renovation and a 27,000 square-foot outpatient renovation.

    This body of work culminated in the creation of a Patient Field Guide to introduce the new hospital tower to patients and their families. The Field Guide highlights the hospital’s many thoughtfully designed features and amenities, while also situating the building contextually within Piedmont Atlanta Hospital’s health campus and the surrounding community.

Since there have been so many presentations, magazine articles, and research studies on the circadian (24-hour body clock) side of Human Centric Lighting (HCL), the presenter will briefly touch upon these concepts to set context. More importantly, this this program will focus on the non-circadian side of lighting, which almost nobody in the lighting industry communicates about and, in many applications, is more important than circadian.

    The goal of this project was to design a layout for the new family medicine clinic at The University of Wisconsin Medical Foundation that supports patient self-rooming (an innovation in their clinic setting). The self-rooming concept helps reduce wait times for patients, improves infection control, increases privacy and maximizes staff efficiency.
