Shirah Kasongo Cahill, RLA

Shirah is landscape architect with over 14 years of experience working in the design of public space. Shirah spent the first eight years of her career working in urban design and sustainable neighborhood development in Mexico. During the last eight years, she has worked for SWBR in Rochester, NY specializing in the design and planning of senior environments and affordable housing. She was the first recipient of Society for the Advancement of Gerontological Environments’ (SAGE) David Green Award in 2019, elected to serve on the SAGE Board of Directors in 2021, and as SAGE Secretary in 2022. She has served on multiple national design juries and volunteers her time to work with architecture students at the college and graduate school level. Shirah has lived in five countries and is passionate about fostering diversity in the design professions.
