Jeff O’Neill is the Vice President of Plant Operations at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, New Jersey, part of the RWJ Barnabas Health System. Plant Operations is responsible for the maintenance of the physical plant, the environment of care, and implementation of approximately $1 Billion in capital construction projects over the next three years.
Jeff started his career in 1992 at the Department of Veterans Affairs in their Engineering Department. Since then, he has worked on development, design and management of capital projects, both from the consulting architect and owner sides. He has also progressed into in leadership roles of hospital facility operations at academic medical centers.
Jeff received his Bachelors of Architecture degree from The Catholic University of America, and is a Registered Architect in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. He holds a healthcare planning certification from the American College of Healthcare Architects (ACHA), and Certified Health Facility Manager (CHFM) certification from the American Hospital Association. Jeff is a member of professional societies including the American Institute of Architects (AIA), the American Society for Healthcare Engineers (ASHE), and the International Code Council (ICC). Jeff is also involved in the building code development process, serves on several committees for the ICC dealing with healthcare-related construction codes, and the FGI Guideline’s Health Guideline Revision Committee / Outpatient Document Group for the 2026 cycle.
