The Hub of All Things Fun: Connecting Innovative Design with Play for Hospitalized Children

When Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, Del. set out to relocate and expand its Child Life Activity Center, they identified a need to offer all patients and families ways to engage in a variety of play and recreation activities in a safe, welcoming environment. Through interactive design exercises, an 8,600-square-foot department emerged to transport children, families, child life associates, and therapists into another world within the hospital. This webinar will share their design process and highlight key attributes of the “Hub of All Things Fun” which includes space for arts and crafts, art therapy, CCTV studio, dramatic play, infant/toddler, kitchen, music therapy, reading, sensory play, and teen activities.
