The EBD Journal Club
The built environment plays a key role in patient outcomes, experiences, and the mental health of healthcare workers (HCWs). However, once a space is built, it is difficult to change.
The modularity and adaptability of new technologies, such as robots, could potentially help stakeholders mitigate some of these challenges; yet, there is a lack of research in this area, particularly in the ED.
To advance our understanding, the presenters address this gap by engaging HCWs in a research-through-design process utilizing design fiction to envision a future resilient ED. By co-creating design prototypes of future intelligent systems, this work seeks to improve patient experience, support both HCW and patient safety, and use reconfigurable spaces to support privacy.
The EBD Journal Club is FREE and open to all. Once registered, a confirmation email will be sent which will include a link to the article. Be sure to read the article in advance for the chance to interact with authors who have recently published EBD papers and articles in peer-reviewed journals such as the HERD Journal. Each EBD Journal Club session is one hour in length and will provide participants with one EDAC/AIA continuing education unit.
More EBD Journal Club information including recordings of past sessions can be found here.
