I think we can all agree that when we think out and make plans for our lives, it can bring not only a sense of accomplishment (who doesn't love checking things off a list?), but also a sense of calm.
The Center is here to help you plan out 2021, growing your knowledge and expertise through our expansive online learning platform. Our virtual events will address the latest challenges facing our industry and allow you to provide your team and clients with inspiration.
We have many virtual cutting-edge learning opportunities planned this year, from Evidence-Based Design Journal Clubs, webinars and workshops to receptions and regional networking events. We are looking forward to hosting five informative and inspiring strategic design workshops this year. These unique collaborative workshops consistently deliver new strategies, solutions, resources and connections to help organizations address today's healthcare design challenges.
The first workshop in April will address the challenges and the increased opportunities of designing for aging populations. The other four workshops will provide two deep dives on behavioral health, a look at the growing market for prefab and modular design and the latest in pediatric design. We also have an EBD Coaching Workshop coming up in two weeks. Behavioral and Mental Health Toolbox
Behavioral and mental health (BMH) conditions affect one of five adults in the U.S. each year, and are even more common among patients receiving care for medical conditions. Providing these patients with a healing, therapeutic environment should be an important goal for health design. Design interventions aimed at improving the psychological well-being of patients with BMH comorbidities may be more cost-effective than they initially appear, because they can be leveraged to support improved well-being for other populations as well, including other patients, staff, and visitors.

Seizing Demand for Ambulatory Care

Convenience, immediacy, affordability and specialized services. These are all reasons outpatient centers appear to be filling a discerning consumer demand and proliferating across the country. Scheduling an appointment with a physician in a primary care office may involve weeks of waiting to be seen. And, unless one arrives in an ambulance, walk-ins for an acute-care hospital’s emergency department will likely experience several hours of wait time before being seen by medical personnel.
