Memorial Children's Hospital, located in South Bend, Indiana, is the largest provider of neonatal and pediatric care services in northern Indiana and southwestern Michigan. Operating the only ground and air transports in the area, Memorial Children's Hospital is the tertiary care center for children in the surrounding eleven counties.
A national leader in the delivery of high quality care and innovative concepts, Memorial Children's Hospital became an associate member in the National Association of Children's Hospitals and Related Institutions (N.A.C.H.R.I.) in 2004.
Existing neonatal and pediatric services are located throughout the 526 bed main hospital. In July 2010 construction of a new 138,000 sq. ft. (building gross square feet) facility will begin. The following features will be included:
- 48 private and semi-private NICU rooms
- Minimum 28 private General/Surgical Pediatric rooms
- A minimum of 12-14 private bed PICU
- Multipurpose outpatient clinics including an 8 bed pediatric hematology/oncology outpatient facility
The projected opening date is October 2012.
