Over the past several decades, the evolution of design for environments for aging has seen dramatic, and often times revolutionary changes that have had profound, positive impacts on the lives of older people.  These changes have been shepherded by icons of the industry whose leadership has had lasting impact.

This webinar offers a once-in-a-lifetime chance to hear from an internationally recognized titan in the field of environments for aging—Dr. Margaret (Maggie) Calkins, and the recipient of 2022 Center for Health Design Changemaker Award—who will share her insights on how design of environments for people as they age has evolved and where the industry is headed.  

In this casual conversation with friend and colleague, Addie Abushousheh, Maggie will share her real-world experiences and memorable stories from her career including her crusade to advocate for environments that are supportive of residents with Alzheimer’s and other dementias, advance the field of environmental gerontology, and conduct critical research in a then male dominated field.  

Most importantly, the conversation will help guide attendees towards a path forward and shed light on their view of the opportunities to positively affect trajectory and momentum of change within the industry.
