Has the functional program been making your head spin?  Have you wondered why it’s required in the FGI Guidelines?  The functional program considers the key components and stakeholders for creating a successful project that meets an organization’s strategic goals and bottom line. Work with members of
The Center for Health Design’s Environmental Standards Council (ESC) to understand how the functional program will help your planning process, not hinder it.

This interactive one-day workshop, will dive deep into the functional program’s intent and purpose through application. Attendees will work in groups to create a functional program for a fictional scenario with guidance from the workshop faculty.  The goal of the workshop is for attendees to leave with an understanding of how functional programs are actually generated, as well as the benefit and opportunity a functional program can provide.  Additionally, ideas and key considerations that result from this workshop will be incorporated into the work of the ESC towards recommendations for the 2018 FGI Guidelines.

More information here including learning objectives, agenda and presenters.

Join us for this interactive, deep dive experience and understand how
the functional program will HELP your planning process, not hinder it!

Highlights How to Strengthen Inpatient Performance through Facility Innovation

Thursday, April 24, 2014

10:00 am PDT/ 1:00 pm EDT

Designing the Evidence-Based Hospital

  • What do you really need to know about evidence-based design and the role of the built environment in improving the quality of care for patients and families within the hospital?
  • In which inpatient areas will evidence-based principles have the most impact for providers under new value-based delivery and payment models?
  • In what ways can hospitals, architects, and contractors work together to evaluate, prioritize, and apply design research in future infrastructure projects?

Join Ellen Taylor, AIA, MBA, EDAC, director of research at The Center for Health Design, and Patrick Testa, MHSA, EDAC, Consultant to the Advisory Board's Facility Planning Forum, to explore architectural principles in the inpatient space that improve clinical safety, patient-centered care, and staff effectiveness.
